Nursery Refresh: Our Plan

When we had Max last October, we were living in a one bedroom guest house. We never really did the full baby nursery plan and prep and design and all that fun stuff when bringing a baby home to their nursery. The plan was that the crib would be in our room and we would all share one bedroom for the unforeseeable future. Well, things change and we moved out and found a beautiful two bedroom apartment in Phoenix that we love. With that extra bedroom, we finally were able to give Max his own room. Which was so exciting! But right after we moved in, covid quarantine hit, our wedding and event based company had the entire season cancel and money to spend on decor was just not an option. Well, almost 7 months later, we are so happy to finally have a plan and design elements in motion to really make Max’s room feel special.

Here are a few nurseries that I found online that were a minimal design, with some subtle pops of colors and nothing too over board. They made me excited to plan and put together Max’s room!

We’re really wanting it to keep it pretty simple with a clean slate that we can easily change elements out. We have the rocking chair, dresser and crib from before, and decided to keep those. The pieces we have are functional and great quality, and we really don’t need to spend money on things that we already have. So, I decided to build the room around the items we already have, and keep it simple.

Originally, we were going to go with a vintage retro Disneyland design, but the more that I thought about it, I wanted something that we could easily switch things out and age with Max. Trust me, I think that Disneyland ages OH SO WELL, but I wanted to keep something simple that goes well with the rest of the apartment. We’ll talk about that later.

Matt and I spent our honeymoon in Greece, and we continue to tie in elements of that beautiful country into our life. Lately, I’ve really been loving clean whites with soft blues and thought this would be the perfect design project to really tie in those Grecian elements I love. I am so excited to share Max’s room when we are all done, but for now, here is some inspiration and our plans.

Below are some photographs of what Max’s room currently looks like and has looked like the last few months. Again, definitely nothing fun or special about this space, which is exactly why I am so excited to work on this.
