Our Road Trip from Phoenix to Denver

We recently took a road trip with my brother to visit our friends, Lindsey and Claudia, in Denver. The weather is starting to really cool down and we are THRILLED about the change. But, it was just taking too long to get here in Arizona so we decided to load up the car and head to Colorado! We drove halfway to New Mexico, and stayed in Albuquerque for the night. The next day, we headed to Denver where we would spend two full days exploring what we could, in between naps and eating.

Once we got to Denver, we checked into our hotel which happened to be right in the heart of Downtown. This was nice because we were able to walk around and explore places. One of our favorite parts of our trip was spending the day at Sloan Lake with our friends. We picked up deli sandwiches, laid out some blankets and enjoyed a picnic at the park. The weather was perfect and the area was beautiful! The trees in Colorado are changing color and it was really beautiful to actually see fall weather happening before our very eyes!

This trip took four days of driving – both 6+ hours or driving, with only two full day of exploring Denver. It was a nice getaway, but man, traveling with a little one definitely can be exhausting. Max is an incredible little boy who travels really well, but just like anyone, he wants to stretch his legs, go to the bathroom, and eat. No one loves being in a car for over 6 hours. Add in a tiny human who can’t quite speak english or express his feelings, it’s just a lot. If we could do this trip all over again, I would have chosen to stay a few extra days to make it worth it. But then again, that would require more money being spent at a hotel and on food. Which of course, would be amazing, BUT THESE ARE TRYING TIMES PEOPLE! We aren’t going to complain for what we can get. I am thankful for our quick getaway with friends who are family, and family. It was the perfect little retreat to kick off FALL!

We didn’t take a ton of photos like we did in Santa Cruz, but we did take a few and I was able to put together another video for my youtube channel!
