Home Office Design with Modsy

Thank you to Modsy Design for sponsoring this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own and my honest take on using Modsy as an online interior design service. Use code LEAH20 to save on your Modsy package!

When we moved into our 1918 historic home (which happens to be my childhood home), we knew there were going to be a lot of details and design elements we would be excited to work on. But one room that kept me scratching my head was my home office. It’s a smaller space, and for some reason, I just couldn’t get my brain to focus on designing or coming up with a game plan for how to make that room functional and inspiring. Thankfully, I reached out to Modsy for some help and THANK GOD I did!

I’ve been so focused on getting our bedroom and bathroom designed, that the room I spend most of my day time hours in, my home office, had been put on the back burner. I spent hours scrolling online trying to figure out design elements that made me excited or felt like a good fit for the rest of the house. To say I was feeling uninspired and a major lack of motivation would be an understatement. So when I reached out to Modsy to see if they could help, I was thrilled to find a partner in them.

Above, you’ll see some before photos. You can see that the space is on the smaller side. An almost perfect square! I am thrilled to have a window in here, because if I didn’t, I’m unsure I could spend hours in here working without feeling like a prisoner.

The first step in signing up for Modsy was to set up my account. It is one of the easiest sign ups I have experienced. You can do it online, but they have an incredible user app that is much easier to use than desktop. When you sign up, you go through some basic questions but dive deep into a really fun style quiz that helps the designer you’re paired with learn the style and aesthetic you’re drawn to. This was a really great tool for me to pinpoint things that I loved versus things I wasn’t really liking. For example, I realized I am not into mid-century modern or really any type of modern design, but love a little bit of cottage and farmhouse design paired with fun patterns and prints.

After your style quiz and completing your sign up process, it’s time for you to upload your room. This is where you can take photos & videos of your space so that the designer knows what they’re working with. This is also helpful to the designer through Modsy to create their 3D design rendering of the space – which if you ask me, really makes it feel SO special and unique for your space.

After you finish uploading everything, Modsy pairs you with a designer. My designer, Sydney, was so wonderful to work with! The first step of our process with Sydney was a layout. She had designed two initial layouts, with furniture and shelving in difference places in the room. After I selected which layout I preferred, we scheduled a zoom call to go over details. I was able to voice all my design goals and what I was hoping. I was able to share what I liked about the two layouts, so that Sydney could design something that I loved! I felt heard and understood, which isn’t always the case. The care and listening that my designed gave me felt so personable and personal. I was so surprised at how simple and comfortable I felt during this process. Because, if I’m being honest, I still hate making phone calls and talking to strangers.

After our call, Sydney got to work designing the space with more details. This has been my favorite part because not only does your designer through Modsy give you the most beautiful 3D renderings of your REAL space, they also give you shop-able links and details for how you can achieve the final look/design on your own. It truly could NOT have been easier and I am so thrilled for how simple and lovely this process has been from start to finish.

There were a few details I was wanting to change on our final design, which was as easy as sending my designer a message to request the changes. This was a helpful option for me to know EXACTLY how I wanted my home office to look. I can’t wait to share the final design and my full home office reveal with you all soon.
